On our latest trip to South Africa, we rented a car and drove east from Cape Town along the coast. On day 2 we made it to Tsitsikamma, home of the highest bungee jump in the world (~ 216m). I have always wanted to bungee jump so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make the highest bungee jump. The company is called Face Adrenalin (www.faceadrenalin.com) and I LOVE their motto: fear is temporary, regret is forever. Of course I was aware of the tourist in Zambia whose bungee cord broke recently (fortunately she was able to swim to shore on the Zimbabwean side). However, I was comforted by the fact that at Bloukrans, they use 2 cords, one for back up just in case. For the record, I wasn’t afraid until I got to the jump off site. And when my toes were over the edge of the bridge, then I started to ask myself, “why am I doing this?!” It’s too late to back out at that point, and they will push you if you don’t go willingly :) I did it so I could learn to face my fears. After jumping off a bridge, nothing else scares me. The video is posted below. Enjoy!

about the author

I have been fortunate enough to live in different countries in Africa, and I take every opportunity to visit more. The countries I have been to include Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya. Cultures are unique in each country and I love the artwork in each country. Of course I love my continent too and I try to educate others about it through art.
